Facilitator – Richard L Street Jr – Department of Communication at Texas A&M University

Richard Street is a Professor of Communication at Texas A&M University and Professor of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine.  He is currently Co-Editor in Chief for Patient Education and Counseling.  He has published over 250 articles, has co-authored or co-edited 5 books, and was the 2012 recipient of the George Engel Award from the Academy of Communication and Healthcare.

Medical encounters are as much about communication as they are about medicine.  The presentation will focus on the how communication concepts and models, plus clinical partnerships, open up new insights into understanding and improving the quality of clinician-patient communication and lay the foundation for identifying communication pathways to improve health outcomes.

The presentation will be followed by 10 min Q&A and 30 min of guided networking led by members of the rEACH Connectivity Group.
