About the webinar: The presentation on Inclusive Communication focuses on enhancing understanding and practices related to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (D&I) within healthcare communication contexts. It begins with an introduction to key definitions and concepts, followed by discussions on barriers to inclusive communication. Participants engage in small group activities to assess the current state of Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) in their environments, exploring the incorporation of equality and the advantages and disadvantages of existing practices. The importance of using inclusive language is emphasized, encouraging participants to invite dialogue, acknowledge human mistakes, and remain reflexive about their self-knowledge. The presentation also highlights the evolving nature of language and the need to stay informed through various resources. Finally, group discussions allow participants to reflect on personal experiences and apply learned concepts to improve health communication for researchers, teachers, and practitioners in healthcare, fostering a more inclusive atmosphere for all.
