For communication experts, Positive Health offers powerful tools to deepen connection, broaden perspectives, and foster collaborative decision-making.

In this webinar you will learn about the background of Positive Health and how the framework can enrich teaching, research, and clinical encounters, supported by examples from international practice.

You’ll learn how Positive Health can shift the focus from “What is the matter?” to “What matters to you?”—a change that significantly improves engagement and outcomes.

Whether you work with students, clinicians, or patients, this webinar will provide fresh insights and practical strategies you can apply immediately. For more information about Positive Health visit: www.positivehealth-international.com

Speakers:

Dr. Karolien van den Brekel-Dijkstra works as a general practitioner (Utrecht, the Netherlands) and as a trainer for the Institute for Positive Health (iPH). In Dr. van den Brekel’s work, health is the starting point and the person is at the centre. Karolien is involved in research, education, and healthcare innovation in the fields of prevention and Positive Health, locally, regionally, nationally and since 2022 internationally. She founded Positive Health International, with the aim of promoting the Positive Health movement beyond the Netherlands.

Positive Health has been a guiding thread throughout her life, providing resilience to deal with life’s challenges across different cultures and countries. During the ten years Karolien lived and worked abroad (New York, Munich, Osaka, Dublin), she learned that diseases are the same everywhere, but the way people deal with them differs by culture and country. She completed her PhD at New York University/University Medical Center Utrecht and has about 20 years of experience as a GP in the Netherlands. Dr. van den Brekel is co-author of Handbook Positive Health in General Practice: Working Together Towards Meaningful Care (Handbook – Positive Health).
