Interprofessional collaboration is key to high quality patient care. One of the core competencies for interprofessional collaboration is, of course, interprofessional communication. Preparing undergraduate students for interprofessional practice by teaching them interprofessional communication is a daunting task. Besides the logistic issues such as making the different curricula match, we are confronted with the universal problems of classroom-to-workplace transfer and the difficulties students face when having to integrate competencies that were taught in isolation. And of course there is also the issue of assessment.

Starting from a short theoretical introduction and based upon the Ghent experience, this webinar will present the idea of interprofessional Entrustable Professional Activities to make undergraduate interprofessional education practice relevant. We will allow plenty of time to discuss the ideas during the webinar.

We will present and discuss

  • Interprofessional competency frameworks
  • A way to build a longitudinal curriculum
  • Are Entrustable Professional Activities the key?
