The VOICE studies: evidence-based training resources for improving healthcare professionals’ communication with people living with dementia.

Dr Rebecca O’Brien is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Nottingham where she works as part of the VOICE study team, using the findings from applied Conversation Analysis to develop communication skills training for healthcare practitioners working with people with dementia, which they then evaluate. She also works in the NHS as a Speech and Language Therapist, where she specialises in working with people with dementia in both hospital and community settings.

Dr O’Brien will present some of the findings from the VOICE studies and show how these have been developed into communication skills training resources, some of which will soon be made freely available via their new website.
