Dr Kristy Fakes is a Research Associate with the Health Behaviour Research Collaborative, Priority Research Centre for Health Behaviour, University of Newcastle. Her research focus is on improving patient preparation for medical interventions, quality of care and psychosocial outcomes for people with chronic conditions. Her PhD (awarded 2019) examined patient preparation for medical interventions. This encompassed development and testing of a new patient-reported experience measure assessing patients’ preparedness for medical interventions; and the first Australian study to examine the prevalence and correlates of pre-procedural anxiety across a diverse range of imaging modalities and medical conditions
