{"id":22180,"date":"2025-02-14T10:39:25","date_gmt":"2025-02-14T10:39:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/each.international\/?page_id=22180"},"modified":"2025-08-05T12:48:49","modified_gmt":"2025-08-05T11:48:49","slug":"large-scale-communication-skills-interventions-for-healthcare-professionals","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/each.international\/nl\/organisation\/sigs\/large-scale-communication-skills-interventions-for-healthcare-professionals\/","title":{"rendered":"New Special Interest Group: Large-Scale Communication Skills Interventions (CSI) for Practicing Healthcare Professionals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Despite the widespread integration of communication skills training in undergraduate and postgraduate curricula, implementing <strong>large-scale, sustained communication skills interventions (CSI)<\/strong> for <strong>practicing healthcare professionals<\/strong> remains a complex challenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To address this, we are excited to launch a <strong>Special Interest Group (SIG)<\/strong> focused on <strong>implementing and supporting institution-wide, regional and national CSI programmes<\/strong> across healthcare systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why This SIG?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Publications in <em>Patient Education and Counseling (PEC)<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ICCH conference sessions (2022 &amp; 2024), including a packed roundtable in Zaragoza with over 40 attendees<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A WHO-EACH webinar series drawing hundreds of global participants<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This growing interest highlights a critical need for a <strong>dedicated community<\/strong> to explore and share best practices, address common barriers, and drive forward the implementation of impactful CSI programmes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Our Aims<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Build a <strong>network of EACH members<\/strong> involved or interested in large-scale CSI initiatives for practicing professionals.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Facilitate the <strong>exchange of knowledge, challenges, and solutions<\/strong> around implementing these programmes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Promote the <strong>development, evaluation, and sustainability<\/strong> of CSI efforts across diverse healthcare settings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What to Expect: Planned Activities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>SIG Initiatives:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Networking Webinars on CSI programme design, getting buy-in etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How to develop, implement and sustain CSI?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Resource development and contributions to the EACH teaching tools database<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mapping existing CSI efforts globally<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Creating research collaborations (in partnership with rEACH, HCER SIG, and others)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conference presentations and SIG networking sessions at ICCH and beyond<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Facilitating in-person networking and peer participation in trainings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Join Us! <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Whether you\u2019re leading a CSI programme, developing a new initiative, or just starting to explore this area, we invite you to be part of this dynamic and supportive group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Together, we can elevate the communication skills of practicing health professionals\u2014and by extension, improve patient care and system outcomes around the world.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To express interest or learn more, contact: <a href=\"mailto:John.Schloemer@goeg.at\">John.Schloemer@goeg.at<\/a>  of <a href=\"mailto:lmille41@utk.edu\">lmille41@utk.edu<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Co-chairs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>John Schl\u00f6mer, Austrian National Public Health Institute,&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:John.Schloemer@goeg.at\">John.Schloemer@goeg.at<\/a>  <br>Laura E.
