DESCRIPTION:Focuses on how communication skills teachers can maximise the p
 otential of simulated patients (SPs)  during experiential teaching\nBy th
 e end of this workshop participants will be able to:\n\n 	Identify and man
 age common challenges that arise as part of SP roleplay\n 	Use Agenda-led 
 Outcomes Based Analysis (ALOBA) to ensure the ‘correct’ level of chall
 enge and flexibility in an SP roleplay\n 	Demonstrate how to calibrate the
  level of emotion in a role play to meet learners needs\n 	Guide SP’s to
  give specific\, descriptive feedback to learners\n 	Describe the importan
 ce of checking in with the SP before and after a teaching session\n\nFacil
 itators\nKim Taylor\nSimulated Patient\, Clinical Communication Skills Tra
 ining\n\nKim Taylor’s work as a simulated patient in the field of Clinic
 al Communication Skills training has led to workshops and courses with doc
 tors and healthcare professionals throughout the UK and internationally fr
 om Norway to USA\, throughout Europe to South Africa.\nAt undergraduate le
 vel\, Kim works in experiential sessions with medical students at the Univ
 ersity of Cambridge and has recently consulted on several projects for the
  University including simulated patient training and a review of the SP re
 cruitment process.\nWith a special interest in the development of training
  materials\, Kim has devised and delivered simulated patient training in t
 he UK\, Portugal\, Austria\, Russia and Sri Lanka.\n\nSandra Winterburn\nA
 cademic Lead for the Clinical Communication Curriculum\, Norwich Medical S
 chool\n\nSandra works as an Associate Professor at Norwich Medical School 
 where she is the Academic Lead for the Clinical Communication Curriculum. 
 She has a background in nursing and has been actively involved in teaching
  clinician-patient communication to a range of professional groups\, at bo
 th undergraduate and postgraduate level\, for more than 15 years.\n\nSandr
 a is Co-Chair of the teaching committee (tEACH) within EACH and has a part
 icular interest in:\n\n 	Small group experiential teaching methods (includ
 ing online delivery)\n 	Train the Trainers initiatives\n 	Curriculum Desig
 n for Healthcare communication\n\nMarcy Rosenbaum\nUniversity of Iowa Carv
 er College of Medicine\, USA\n\nMarcy Rosenbaum\, PhD\, is Professor of Fa
 mily Medicine at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine in the 
 US. She is currently the President of EACH and former co-chair of tEACH\, 
 the teaching committee of EACH. She has conducted research on and taught a
 bout clinical communication and medical education for over 30 years with a
  particular emphasis on experiential simulation and workplace based commun
