SUMMARY:What to teach in communication skills teaching – skills and struc
 ture (2/2)
DESCRIPTION:This is a shorter online version of our two-day annual ‘What
to teach’ course that will focus on the basic core clinical communicatio
n skills rather than specific communication challenges. The primary focus
of this course will be on the structure and skills of healthcare communica
tion. The course will look at the various models in use to conceptualise h
ealth care communication and analyse communication skills in observed enco
unters with patients. This will help participants:\n\n clarify what they
are trying to teach\n define the individual specific skills of effective
clinical communication\n break down the complex task of the interview int
o its individual components\n\nWe will explore communication skills by obs
erving prepared videos and work in small groups/break out rooms.\n\nThe on
line course will be facilitated by experienced teachers from tEACH\, the t
eaching committee of EACH: International Association of Communication in H
ealthcare. The proceedings will be held in English and as much as possible
