SUMMARY:tEACHers' Lounge - Undergraduate interprofessional communication: m
 aking it practice-relevant.
DESCRIPTION:Interprofessional collaboration is key to high quality patient
care. One of the core competencies for interprofessional collaboration is\
, of course\, interprofessional communication. Preparing undergraduate stu

mmunication is a daunting task. Besides the logistic issues such as making
the different curricula match\, we are confronted with the universal prob
lems of classroom-to-workplace transfer and the difficulties students face
when having to integrate competencies that were taught in isolation. And
of course there is also the issue of assessment.\n\nStarting from a short
theoretical introduction and based upon the Ghent experience\, this webina
r will present the idea of interprofessional Entrustable Professional Acti
vities to make undergraduate interprofessional education practice relevant
. We will allow plenty of time to discuss the ideas during the webinar.\n\
nWe will present and discuss\n\n Interprofessional competency frameworks\
n A way to build a longitudinal curriculum\n Are Entrustable Professiona
l Activities the key?\n\nSpeaker\n\nPeter Pype is a general practitioner a
nd a palliative care physician. After 20 years of practice he turned to ac
ademia with a PhD on interprofessional workplace learning in palliative ca
re. After some years as a communication skills trainer he was appointed pr
ofessor at the faculty of medicine and health sciences\, Ghent University
Belgium\, to develop and implement interprofessional education.\n\nHis res
earch focuses on interprofessional education and interprofessional collabo
ration in healthcare.\n\nFree for EACH members\n\nRead the flyer here
