SUMMARY:tEACHers' Lounge - AI-Powered Breaking Bad News Training for Health
 care Professionals
DESCRIPTION:A webinar from tEACH\n\nBreaking bad news (BBN) is a complex\,
high-stakes task that requires clear\, compassionate communication while m
aintaining professional resilience. Poorly managed BBN encounters can nega
tively impact patients' emotional well-being\, treatment adherence\, and b
ereavement process\, as well as contribute to burnout and emotional distre
ss among professionals.\n\nDespite its importance\, many healthcare profes
sionals report feeling unprepared and highly stressed in these encounters.
Research highlights that effective BBN education combines theoretical lea
rning\, experiential training\, and structured feedback. However\, traditi
 onal methods—such as standardized patients—are costly\, time-consuming
\, and logistically challenging\, limiting hands-on training opportunities
.\n\nA New Approach: AI-Powered Training – To address these challenges\,
we developed an AI-driven BBN training simulator that provides unlimited\
 , cost-effective\, and personalized role-playing scenarios. Participants e
ngage in real-time simulations with AI-powered virtual patients\, receive
reflective and structured\, protocol-based feedback\, and practice communi
 cation skills in a safe\, private\, and multilingual environment.\n\nThis
innovative system offers a scalable and accessible solution for improving
healthcare communication—enhancing both patient-centered care and profes
sionals' well-being.\n\nTeachers' Lounge Webinar Goals \n\n Introduce gol
d-standard methods for BBN education and the potential of AI-driven simula
tion (15 min)\n Participants can engage in an interactive\, real-time AI-
powered BBN simulation and are invited to share their experiences as commu
nication experts through filling a short pre- post questionnaire (~30 min)
 \n Discuss benefits\, limitations\, ethical considerations\, and integrat
ion into healthcare education.\n\nParticipants will gain hands-on experien
ce and receive personalized AI-driven feedback to enhance their skills in
 breaking bad news.\n\nPresenters – \n\nProf. Orit Karnieli-Miller\, PhD\
, FACH\, Full Professor and the Dr. Sol Amsterdam Dr. David P. Schumann En
dowed Chair in Medical Education. A leading expert in medical communicatio
n\, professionalism\, and reflective practice with over two decades of exp
