DESCRIPTION:The inclusion of Simulated Patients (SPs) in health professiona
 l communication skills teaching (CST) is growing internationally.\n\nThis 
 workshop aims to describe a range of skills &amp\; strategies which will e
 nable trainers and SPs to work collaboratively during experiential session
 s to ensure that the individual learner’s agenda is prioritised and lear
 ning maximised.\n\nAt the end of this workshop\, participants will be able
  to describe the importance of:\n\no            overt and cover
 t communication between SP and facilitator\,\n\no            ma
 naging vague or generalised feedback\n\no            calibratin
 g emotion\n\no            handling critical feedback\n\nThe con

  out more about this 2 part event.\n\nSpeaker\n\nKim Taylor is a simulated
  patient and simulated patient trainer with over twenty years involvement 
 in medical education.\n\nKim has developed &amp\; delivered face to face s
 imulated patient training events in Portugal\, Austria\, Sri Lanka\, Norwa
 y &amp\; Russia. Online\, Kim has conducted SP training for the Nelson Man
 dela School of Medicine in South Africa &amp\; is part of the team deliver
 ing the EACH online Working with SP’s course.\n\nKim has worked national
 ly and internationally on Train the Trainer courses with EACH (Internation
 al Association for Communication in Healthcare). At undergraduate level\, 
 Kim works in experiential sessions with medical students at the University
  of Cambridge &amp\; has consulted on several projects for the University 
 including simulated patient training and the review and development of the
  SP recruitment process.\n\nCo-facilitators\nSandra Winterburn - Sandra is
  an Associate Professor at Norwich Medical School where she is the academi
 c lead for the clinical communication curriculum. She is also the co-chair
  of the teaching committee of EACH.\n\nMandy Williams - Since 2009 Mandy h
 as been a senior tutor in clinical communication skills at Cambridge Unive
 rsity Hospitals Trust\, working with undergraduate medical students. She h
 as specific responsibility for faculty &amp\; SP development and student r
 emediation.
