DESCRIPTION:Due to the Corona virus outbreak\, this course has been postpon
 ed.\n\ntEACH\, the teaching committee of the EACH: International  Associa
 tion of Communication in Healthcare\, is delighted to announce a two-day c
 ourse focusing on teaching communication skills in the clinical workplace.
 \n\nIt will be facilitated by experienced teachers from the tEACH Courses 
 and Support for Trainers committee. The proceedings will be held in Englis
 h and as much as possible will accommodate participants for whom English i
 s not their first language.\nContent and format\nThe primary focus of this
  course will be on approaches to incorporating teaching about communicatio
 n into the clinical workplace\, such as in clinics and on hospital wards w
 here learners participate in patient care. While teaching communication sk
 ills during clinical training is important in order to reinforce communica
 tion skills learned in formal courses and develop new skills\, clinical su
 pervisors can find this task challenging to accomplish.  This course will
  explore “informal” clinical communication teaching opportunities such
  as role modeling\, observation and responding to patient presentations as
  well as more formal one to one and small group approaches such as video r
 eview\, role play and reflection using learners’ immediate clinical expe
 riences.\n\nThe course will be highly interactive and participant centred\
 , with a mixture of experiential learning and didactic teaching:\n\n 	Part
 icipants will share their experiences and concerns regarding opportunities
 \, strategies and challenges for communication teaching in the clinical se
 tting and/or training and empowering clinical supervisors to emphasize com
 munication skills during clinical teaching.\n 	Participants will also have
  the opportunity to practice and share a variety of approaches to clinical
  teaching of communication skills using materials such as role play\, clin
 ical vignettes and trainee videos.\n 	Group problem solving will seek to a
 ddress obstacles that participants face in attempting to emphasize communi
 cation skills during clinical training.\n 	All participants will be given 
 the opportunity to identify how insights from the course can be practicall
 y implemented in their specific institutional setting and what they percei
 ve as the most important take home points from the course.\n\nCourse Objec
 tives:\n\n 	To describe challenges and obstacles to teaching communication
  skills in clinical context\n 	To use teachable moments in a busy clinical
  environment\n 	To provide feedback to learners in an effective and effici
 ent manner\n 	Identify a variety of formal communication teaching strategi
 es that can fit into the clinical context\n\nParticipants\nThe course is d
 irected towards teachers of health professionals (for example medical stud
 ents\, nurses\, physiotherapists\, doctors) who are engaged in clinical su
 pervision of learners as well as educators involved in supporting clinical
  training. It is suitable for teachers of a variety of experience.\n\nThe
