DESCRIPTION:Focuses on how to train simulated patients (SPs) to deliver saf
 e\, effective and meaningful roleplay for your learners\nBy the end of thi
 s workshop participants will be able to:\n\n 	Describe how to train SPs to
  realistically portray pre-written and spontaneously developed patient cas
 es\n 	Articulate how and why to share the content of communication skills 
 models with simulated patients\n 	Apply strategies to help SP’s adapt th
 eir portrayal in response to the skills being used by the learner\n 	Usely
  techniques to enhance SP’s portrayal of emotions\n 	Train SPs to provid
 e feedback from the patient’s perspective \n\nWorkshop Two: Focuses on 
 how communication skills teachers can maximise the potential of simulated 
 patients (SPs)  during experiential teaching\nBy the end of this workshop
  participants will be able to:\n\n 	Identify and manage common challenges 
 that arise as part of SP roleplay\n 	Use Agenda-led Outcomes Based Analysi
 s (ALOBA) to ensure the ‘correct’ level of challenge and flexibility i
 n an SP roleplay\n 	Demonstrate how to calibrate the level of emotion in a
  role play to meet learners needs\n 	Guide SP’s to give specific\, descr
 iptive feedback to learners\n 	Describe the importance of checking in with

 imulated Patient\, Clinical Communication Skills Training\n\nKim Taylor’
 s work as a simulated patient in the field of Clinical Communication Skill
 s training has led to workshops and courses with doctors and healthcare pr
 ofessionals throughout the UK and internationally from Norway to USA\, thr
 oughout Europe to South Africa.\nAt undergraduate level\, Kim works in exp
 eriential sessions with medical students at the University of Cambridge an
 d has recently consulted on several projects for the University including 
 simulated patient training and a review of the SP recruitment process.\nWi
 th a special interest in the development of training materials\, Kim has d
 evised and delivered simulated patient training in the UK\, Portugal\, Aus
 tria\, Russia and Sri Lanka.\n\nSandra Winterburn\nAcademic Lead for the C
 linical Communication Curriculum\, Norwich Medical School\n\nSandra works 
 as an Associate Professor at Norwich Medical School where she is the Acade
 mic Lead for the Clinical Communication Curriculum. She has a background i
 n nursing and has been actively involved in teaching clinician-patient com
 munication to a range of professional groups\, at both undergraduate and p
 ostgraduate level\, for more than 15 years.\n\nSandra is Co-Chair of the t
 eaching committee (tEACH) within EACH and has a particular interest in:\n\
 n 	Small group experiential teaching methods (including online delivery)\n
  	Train the Trainers initiatives\n 	Curriculum Design for Healthcare commu
 nication\n\nMarcy Rosenbaum\nUniversity of Iowa Carver College of Medicine
 \, USA\n\nMarcy Rosenbaum\, PhD\, is Professor of Family Medicine at the U
 niversity of Iowa Carver College of Medicine in the US. She is currently t
 he President of EACH and former co-chair of tEACH\, the teaching committee
  of EACH. She has conducted research on and taught about clinical communic
 ation and medical education for over 30 years with a particular emphasis o
 n experiential simulation and workplace based communication learning.\nTim
