SUMMARY:Curriculum Development in Communication Skills Teaching (Part 2)
DESCRIPTION:This online course is directed towards educators of health prof
 essional learners at any level (students\, postgraduate learners\, practic
 ing health care providers)  who wish to develop a new curriculum or enhan
 ce an existing curriculum focused on clinical communication skills. The co
 urse will explore how to develop a curriculum suitable to the healthcare s
 etting each participant operates within\, what to include in the curriculu
 m and how to deliver and implement the curriculum.  The course combines l
 arge group interactive sessions presenting theory and concrete steps in de
 veloping curricula with small group sessions where participants work on th
 eir individual curriculum development needs.\n\nAs a result of this course
 \, participants will be able to:\n\n 	apply educational theory to designin
 g communication skills curricula\n 	organize the core content of the commu
 nication curriculum tailored to their learners’ needs\n 	select appropri
 ate teaching methods for each component of the curriculum\n 	integrate com
 munication with other clinical skills and the rest of the learners’ prog
 ram\n 	describe key issues in evaluation and implementation of communicati

 n\nCourse facilitators have extensive experience in curriculum development
 \, facilitating Train the Trainers Courses for health professions educator
 s and teaching health professional learners at all levels.\n\n\n\nMarcy Ro
 senbaum\, PhD\, is Professor of Family Medicine at the University of Iowa 
 Carver College of Medicine in the US.  She is the Past-President of EACH 
 and former co-chair of tEACH\, the teaching committee of EACH.  She has c
 onducted research on and taught about clinical communication and medical e
 ducation for over 30 years and oversees communication skills curriculum fo
 r students\, residents and practicing clinicians. She has provided faculty
  development related to communication skills teaching and curriculum all o
 ver the world.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\n\n\nJane Ege Møller\, PhD\, is Associate Pro
 fessor at Department of Clinical Medicine\, Aarhus University in Denmark a
 nd the Academic Lead of the clinical communication skills courses for resi
 dents in Central Denmark Region. She is currently the co-chair of tEACH\, 
 the teaching committee of EACH. She has more than 15 years of experience 
 as a researcher and teacher in the field of clinical communication and med
 ical education.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\n\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nDr Gozie Offiah is a Senior L
 ecturer and Director of Curriculum at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ire
 land and practised medicine (with a background in Surgery) for over 15 yea
 rs in the Health Service Executive (HSE). She is also the Clinical Lead fo
 r the National Intern Training programme in the HSE and the chair of the c
 ross-cultural group of tEACH\, Her teaching experience spans undergraduate
 \, postgraduate and continuing medical education in health professions edu
 cation and training.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\n\n\nDr Anne Marie Regan is a practising
  clinical/ Neuro psychologist\n\nworking in clinical practice in varied cl
 inical settings for the last 40 years including Health Service Executive W
 est\, &amp\; National Disability Authority in Ireland. She an Assistant Sc
 heme Director with the Irish College of General Practitioners GP training 
 programme and has a lead role in overseeing the development of a national 
 curriculum for communication skills teaching in postgraduate GP training.\
